The last few days have been challenging. The stomach flu has hit our house and it has once again thrown us into isolation. The walls are closing in! As I am thrown up on, doing loads and loads of extra laundry, and listen to hours of whining, I am REALLY trying to remind myself of what I am thankful for...my theme for the year...thankfulness...ugh!
Ellie is a GREAT baby. Has been on a three hour schedule since she was born, nurses great, and sleeps for 4 hours at a time at night. Her dark hair still cracks me up and has me in awe. Did I make that? ha ha! But seriously, I am treasuring her. She smells so good and I love when she arches her back and stretches. I am very relaxed this time around. Transitioning from 2 to 3 has been much easier than 1 to 2. I can really enjoy her this time and soak it all in.
I started a program at church where we are matched up with people to disciple. (Am I really old enough to disciple someone? I still need discipled!) But I was matched up with a VT student named Ashley and I am excited (and a little nervous) to see what transforms out of this new journey. We are reading The Good and Beautiful God by James Bryan Smith. I've only read the first chapter, but the jist of the book is to make our minds more like Jesus so this ultimately changes our actions too. The first chapter's assignment is to get a thorough amount of sleep during the week before we meet with our partners so that our bodies are healthy and alert for the Holy Spirit's prompting. THE IRONY! I'm nursing a two week old. ha! Not doing so well already in the discipling department.

Book Club
I was so excited to hear that Beth Moore's new book was out. And the topic is so poignant for modern women. INSECURITY. We live in a culture where we should have designer everything, have perfectly groomed homes, succesful children, and on and on. This perfectionist society is doing nothing but breeding insecure women- of all ages. And I am there right along with everyone else. I went and got the book and have looked up all the info on Beth's (in my world we're best friends and on a first name basis) website (http://www.livingproofministries.blogspotcom/). She's doing it bookclub style on her blog where we can comment on what were reading. Pretty fun to have interaction with the author of the book!
