Snowed in...yes again...

Right now I am sitting on the couch with Reece. He's on his 3rd popsicle and second cartoon. I am reading blogs and catching up on facebook. Shane and Avery headed out in the Jeep to Target and Home Depot. The Jeep has no heat and is a pretty rough ride so I opted not to go and have Ellie bounced into my spine the whole time. I thought we were going to get maybe 6-8 inches and we got at least 12. UGH! It looks pretty now, but my pretty van with the leather heated seats can't get out of the driveway or back up the hill in front of our house. We are hoping that our street gets plowed a little sooner than the last time.

Not going to church this morning made me really cranky. I love Sundays. It means that I get up and get all dressed up (as much as you can when you only have one pair of pants you can wear in public), sing loudly in the car with Avery, and get to church an hour early for worship team practice. It also means doughtnuts and socializing with my peeps. For a SAHM, this is A LOT of adult interaction. Getting to worship God every Sunday surrounded by amazing friends and my church family, sitting next to my hubs with his arm around me, and having the kiddos back in the kid zone learning bible stories... well, it makes me really happy. And after two weeks of dealing with sickness and the restlessness that comes from wanting to be holding your new baby in your arms and not your belly... I'm struggling today.

The positive is that Reece correctly identified all three colors of his popsicles and I have caught up reading some blogs that I have fallen behind on because I've been a mad nester this week. I'm going to look for some energy and a more positive attitude. I know this too shall pass... and in the grand scheme of things...my life is pretty darn great.

I am so OVER winter...

This is what it looked like a few weeks ago....
And they say there is another storm coming...

Did someone forget to tell the weather that we live in the south?

Our car couldn't make it up the hill so Shane left it in the neighbors driveway and this is what it looked like the next morning.

Seriously...I'm ready for spring. This cold stuff is getting a little tiresome.

Boy Room VS. Girls Room

Here is our little man falling asleep for the first time in his big boy bed. I was too chicken to move the crib out the first night. But so far no problems! He loves it.

His room definitely doesn't have the TLC that the girls room received. We still have to paint, find a dresser, move all of the pictures on the wall and get rid of all of his clothes that are dumped on his rocking chair since there isn't a dresser yet. But the vision is there and once things settle down after Ellie comes, we will make this his "big Boy" room.

The girls' room is so precious. It's a light shade of pink called light chiffon by BEHR paint. Picking the color was so hard. Pink can turn out all wrong! This ended up perfect. The room was really sunny when I took the pictures so things aren't as clear in color as I had hoped.

The bedding should be here tomorrow. I ordered the bumper, etc. from Ebay, that is a pale quilted pink. Very simple and it was all brand new in package from Pottery Barn kids. Love a smokin deal! Still have the finishing touches to do. Hangings on the wall, a pillow here and there, her clothes in the changing table. And Avery's headboard needs mounted up high on the wall and painted white.
Notice the light? It is from Target and it is SOOOO sweet. Shane went all out and rewired it to hang in theh center of the room and went to find the medallions too. I think he's pretty over all the girliness and will be glad when we decorate Reece's room. I'm debating about an area rug. Shane doesn't like carpet on carpet, but there is such a huge space in the middle of the room.
I was pretty choked up the entire time we worked on this. It finally made it real and fun. It's been a long 9 months and just 4 more weeks until she comes.

Nesting in hyperdrive...

I would consider myself a nester pretty much all the time. I love to decorate, clean, organize, all around rearrange things to try and make things better. But being pregnant...poor Shane...it's been taken to a whole new level.

Examples:

The phone jack in the middle of the counter in the kitchen has ALWAYS bugged me. Wish I would have noticed that when the house was being built. But last week, it was if it was terr*orist and I was the navy seal chosen to take it out! I'm telling you people, it was AGRESSIVE decorating. ha! Despite the fast that I walk like the hunchback of notre dame and contractions all the time, and really should be spending my time doing other things---I fixed it. I found a plate hanger, found a silver tray and hung it directly over the phone jack. Perfect...it didn't show...but the red phone cord was all over the place. Hmmmmmmm.........scotch tape. Left over from Christmas wrapping it loomed over me. Should I? Is that tacky? I went for it. Behind all of the canisters holding flour, sugar, etc., is about 8 pieces of scotch tape holding that RED phone cord perfectly in place. Shhhhhh....it's a secret. And if you happen to come over to my house....don't move the canisters. Not sure how long the scotch tape will last. ha!

I emptied the entire master closet and PURGED. Quite frankly, if I don't lose the baby weight quickly there will be more to purge, but I got a really good start. I went through everything. Clothes, handbags, shoes, jewelry, even the underwear drawer! ha!

The pantry is calling my name. Just begging to be reorganized. I have an office to set-up since we moved it back upstairs, and the kids are going to get their toys thinned out. They've decided to not clean up and I am too tired to fight them or do it, so they're only getting a few thing in their room and we're going to rotate the bins.

I think it finally hit me that Ellie really is coming and it's only 5 weeks away. I'm panicking that I won't have things ready. I've had cross-country moves during the other two pregnancies and have never had everything put away and set-up ahead of time. The home renovations have put a damper on MY personal schedule of wanting things done, but the projects are almost finished. Shane just has to put the quarter round down in the bathroom, put my most beloved first floor fixtures back (going upstairs everytime you have to go to the bathroom...8 mos preggers...not a good combination), and then I can decorate! ( I finally broke down and bought the rug from Target that I have been oogling for two years. Pictures coming soon as it's done!

Well, I've obviously got lots to do. Monday is laundry day and that means I need to purge the kids dressers and closets and get them completely organized before we add ANOTHER one. :)
